Hotel and country-restaurant Hammermuehle in brief
The hotel and country-restaurant "Hammermuehle" (hammer mill) is located in Donaustauf / Bavaria, about 12 km east of the old town of Regensburg. This historic town is the district capital of Oberpfalz, which was founded by the Romans as "Castra Regina", and is the home to many famous buildings such as its cathedral (13th - 16th century) and the more than 800 year old scenic, stone bridge that majestically spans the Danube river.
Since 1938 the family Schmid has run this charming country-restaurant, which is now in its third generation of proud ownership. During spring of 2000, the new hotel was opened featuring upgraded, luxury rooms with many added features. The restaurant and hotel are situated near the preserve belonging to the dynasty of "Thurn und Taxis", which is today used by the Golf and Country Club Regensburg. Bavaria's hall of fame, "Walhalla", which hosts the busts of many important people who were associated with Germany's long and remarkable history, is only 1.5 km away.
